Disk Brake Adaptor for Nexus Roller Brake Inner Hub?

Hello,

I have this kickass bike, and I am planning on getting an internal hub. I guess they don't make an internal hub that can use a disk brake (please correct me if I'm wrong), but there is a disk brake adaptor made somewhere in the UK that will fit on or replace the Nexus Roller Brake. If anyone has info on this that would be appreciated.

I don't know much about bike terminoligy, so sorry if this sounds confusing. Thanks.

the 14 speed rohloff speedhub is designed to use a disc brake although it's significantly more expensive than the shimano nexus

i'd be interested to hear about this british made adapter as well
it seems like a simple enough idea

You are steeling my idea. Oh well I don't have any money for another bike right now. Cannondale makes an adapter for UK bad boy nexus headshock. Don't know if they would sell you one. Worth a call. Here is a picture.

https://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/06/ce/model-6BS1.html

I've been saving these two for a long time. Click on the right side of the checkerboard for the 1st one. Its in japanese.

Click on nabendapter on the 2nd one. Its in german.

I tried to translate them with google. Don't know if it helped. Let me know what Cdale says. I'm interested.

Here's a google translation of Coelcanth's link. Looks like it may be the same as the cesur one I posted.

About $70 USD if my exchange is right.

Thanks! I went for this one. It's $115 with shipping from Denmark and they only do bank wire transfers (no cc transactions, bummer). Kinda pricey but I'm sure I'll be happy with it. Thanks for all the help.

Glad you found one. Tell us how it fits when you get it in. See if the adapter meshes with the splines on the hub or just uses the nut to hold it on. There is a thread over in touring about a nexus 8 on a surly if you are interested. I'd love to know how much the adapter weighs if you get a chance. Later.

PS- Sturmey Archer has an 8sp disc-brake hub. I've been looking around, can't seem to find anyone who's actually used it yet to see how it works. From their website it looks like ratio 1 is direct drive (meaning that's your lowest gear) whereas Nexus seems to be ratio 4 or 5 is direct drive (don't recall exactly).

Nexus8 w disc

FYI, this press release for the coming Nexus "Alfino" line, which includes a disc brake.

https://www.roadcyclinguk.com/news/im...NE-onpare1.jpg

On the subject of installing an Nexus8, the smartest thing I've seen is use of a cable connector in the rear to support quick release of the cable to swap the rear wheel for flats.

Thanks for the headsup Bangkok. I googled nexus alfine. Seems this is all over european news. I can't translate to english. From what I can tell is it will be released in october 2006. They are making their own singulator or chain tensioner so the gearhub can be used on a normal verticledrop frame instead of with an eccentric bottom bracket or horizonal drops. Also the chain tensioner will allow you to use a double crank. Also will have rapidfire shifters. Anybody finds any english links post them up. Hope Shimano decides to sell this stuff in the USA.
