All right.
Sorry - I meant 8 spd, not 7 speed. Thanks!!!
I know this is a rookie question and I will take any flac you send my way, BUT please just help me with the question.
I have a Allez Triple. Comes with a mix of Sora and Tiagra. I bought some Mavic Ksyrium Elites, but they only work with 9 or 10 speed. What is the easiest way to upgrade? Can I just buy a new cassette or will a new derailer and shifter be required?
Not looking to spend $800 to upgrade the componants. Just not in the cards right now. Thank you for all your help and happy riding!

The brifters are going to cost a lot, in addition to needing a new cassette and chain. Probably too late, but check compatibility before purchasing wheelsets with your current setup.
Shimano Tiagra 9 speed brifters are $180 CAD. Chain + Cassette add around $60 - $70. All that for one more gear in the back.

This could be a good time to upgrade to 9 speed 105 brifters, which are on sale now since they're being discontinued. You're taking a risk re: future cassette availability, but I'm guessing it's not going to be a huge problem (and by guessing, I mean hoping, since I have a 9 speed 105 setup right now).

Most wheels work with 8/9/10 speed cassettes since the total width is identical although sometimes the 10s need a slim spacer.
