    Installing Quick Release

    I own a Magna 26" 24 speed bike and want to change my formt wheel from the original setup to a quick release setup, how do I do this?

    I'm not sure if your front hub is capable of taking a quick release. I've had bikes of that type in my youth which could not. If yours can then it should be easy enough to remove the axle and insert a QR skewer in place. You will need to first unbolt the front wheel from the dropouts and inspect the axle. There should be some kind of nut that secures the cones and axle in place. Maybe if you post some pictures, we can help you out better.

    I'm guessing here:

    If you front wheel is bolted on, the axle is solid (and it is too long) and therefore can not take a quick release. You will need to replace the axle with a shorter HOLLOW one. With parts and labor at your LBS, you might be better off looking for a used front wheel that already has a quick release.

    Getting a new front wheel probably isn't cost effective given the retail price of that bike.

    Hey thanks for the advice I think I'll look for a used front wheel that is already a quick release,
