Loose fork
I have a Cannondale '04 R1000 and I've just noticed that my fork is a tad loose. When I apply the front brake and rock the bike back and forth there is a little movement in the head tube. I'm use to threaded forks and adjusting them is a piece of cake. I've never adjusted a threadless fork and will work on this tomorrow. I would appreciate any words of wisdom.
Cheers

The same principles apply, only it can all be done with a regular hex key set and no 32 mm wrenches.

Loosen the stem clamp bolts more than just a "tad". The stem must move freely on the steerer to allow you to get the proper adjustment. So, loosen the stem clamp bolts a lot, turn down the top screw slowly and a small amount at a time until the play disappears, center the stem and tighten the clamp bolts firmly.

OK great, I did check Park tool and their discription seams pretty straight forward. I will tackle it today.

Sometimes the impression of a loose fork can be caused by movement in brakes rather than the fork. Be sure to rule this out before clamping down on the headset.
