Nashbar ordering problem!!!!!!
Well, I debated posting this but decided to because I would have wanted to know. I attempted to use the promotional code TKM7 that is posted on every string in this site. When I was using the online ordering, everything was fine. I even bumped my order up a few extra items. Then when I went to check out it asked for the code, I entered it and it calculated perfectly. So I completed the order. I then get an immediate follow up email with the order information on it. The discount was not there and so I checked my credit card transactions thinking it was just a mistake on the email. Nope they charged the whole order with no discount. So I sent an email stating the problem. I didnt see anything from them in return for 2 days. So I called and got a CSR. After talking to her for about 10 minutes she decided, rather reluctantly, that they would honor the discount and give me a credit on card. Just for the record, it has been 3 working days since the order and I have not had one response via email to the problem or anything about the shipment of my order. Since I have been ordering online I have never had such a lack of concern by a merchant!!!!! Thanks and beware of Nashbar!!!! It is still a good company with good products they just need to do something about their customer service!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up. I have often wondered if Nashbar or performancebike.com would honor the promotional code if you're already ordering an item that is on closeout. Anyone else tried this?

I think what probably happened is quite simple...I almost did not catch it on my last order with Nashbar.
When you go into the checkout process, enter the discount code, and go to the next screen, you should see the discount reflected. If you go back, continue shopping, add something else to your cart, or just browse off of that checkout screen and come back, you have to enter the discount code AGAIN on the first checkout page. If you do not do this, the code is not saved, and you do not get the discount.
My last order I did that very thing. I entered the discount code and went to the next page. Then I remembered that I needed one more thing, so I went back and added it to my cart. When I went through the checkout process again, I did not enter the code, assuming it would be saved. I went to the second page of the checkout process, and just happened to notice that the code was not there. I had to go back and enter the code again.
It appears to me that they just have a bad checkout system that will not save codes, shipping options, etc.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
I've made about half a dozen orders from Nashbar in the past few months, ordering sale items, closeouts, and normal stock. Used a coupon code every time with no trouble.
On-line check-out systems can tend to be rigid in their imput parameters. It's always a good idea to double-check everything before you click 'finish'.
I think the OP is lucky that they got a human CSR that could solve their problem in a timely manner. That is the execption rather than the rule!

I just bought some stuff from Nashbar and had no problem with that code. YMMV

You Know!? For Kids!
Just bought some Bellweather bib shorts that were on sale and used W215 and got additional 10% off. Did this on 06/01/06.

I think the posting from Sabaka explains the problem very well. If you start to complete the order, enter the discount code and then go back to add additional items, the code must be reentered when you go through the check out procedure again.

Thank for the validation. I was worried about being flamed!!! But I had finished my order completely when I entered the code. But, like I said it was handled. I also never recieved any information on the order shipping either, I had to call and ask that as well. I think that is poor CS as well. All in all I would probably order again but be very careful and triple check all information from them. Thanks!!

In the recent past I have had two exceptionally good experiences with Nashbar's customer service. When I stripped the threads on a part of a storage rack I was assembling, they replaced the stripped part for free, even though I said, "But I stripped it," and was willing to pay for it. In the second case, I had a problem with receiving a shipment through the post office, a problem that Nashbar didn't create. But they sorted out a solution for it.

I've found Perf & Nashbar to be quite good merchants. Sure, they're big ($280 million annual sales!) & big companies make mistakes. But I've found that they will do anything to make it right. And the deals you can get are just spectacular. I take any copy of the lowest price I can find on Qbike (usually Nashbar or Performance anyway) to the store and they never even question it. Then I get another 10% off for my easily paid for Perf membership. My only nit with Nashbar is the pathetically slow shipping, especially when the shipping cost is relatively expensive.
