Freewheel compatibility
I bought a new Nashbar 6-speed freewheel for my 82 Cilo (Maillard hubs). I have also aquired an 81 Miyata, which has Suntour components and a teensy little 12-22 freewheel. (I am 200 pounds, and with a 52/42 crank, that ain't gonna cut it)
Will the new freewheel work on the Suntour hub? I seem to recall reading something about Suntour not following industry standards, but I don't know when that took place.
Most likely I'll have to replace the rear DR as well, the Suntour Superbe is a pretty piece, but has a listed capacity of 24 T.

As long as your Maillard hubs are English/ISO threaded, rather than French, you'll be fine.
How many teeth are on the largest and smallest cogs of your new freewheel? A rear derailleur has two "capacities": the largest freewheel/freehub cog its jockey wheel can clear and the total number of chain half-links it can wind up. For 52-42/12-22, the respective numbers are 22 and 20, comfortably within the capabilities of the Superbe. It can wrap enough chain for a 52-42/13-26 combination, but it will be able to clear the 26T cog only if you can tighten its positioning screw far enough to move the entire cage downward and rearward sufficiently.
