Torque on cone nuts, also skewers

Is there a specified torque setting for cone nuts on rear hubs. In case you are wondering it is the rear hub original to a late 80s (?) Schwinn World Sport. I have them torqued just enough to avoid axle wobble.
Also, are there issues with installing QR skewers on such an old hub?
    Thanks,
    j

There is no "torque spec", you adjust the cone and locknut until there is no play but the wheel turns freely. For a nutted hub, you adjust to absolutely no play. For a qr hub you leave a TINY amount of play that tightening the qr skewer removes.

To use a qr skewer in a nutted hub, you will need to replace the solid axle with a hollow one.
