Schwinn rims and tires

Does the Schwinn S2 tire fit the old Schwinn 26x1 3/8" rims?

I think these old 1 3/8" rims have a designation as well (maybe they're called S2 also???) but I don't remember what it is. Can anyone help with one or both of these questions? Is there a good site to find a chart for rim/tire compatibility for old Schwinn stuff?

Here is a great source of info on tire/rim sizes https://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html As you see the Schwinn lightweights are called "S-6" with an ISO size of 597 mm. But read Sheldon's article carefully. Old 26" stuff can be tricky. Also check the rim for a hook wall or straight wall. If it is a straight wall 26" it is probably steel and very heavy with limited choices of tires available. I just rebuilt an old Fuji with these rims on it and I was able to fit a 700 rim on the back and I had an old 700 carbon fork lying around that I had taken off of another bike. The bike now weighs about half what it did with those steel wheels. Good luck any way you go.

S2s are not 26 x 1 3/8 rims but are the standard 559 mountain bike rim size. 26 x 1 3/8 rims in Schwinn numbers are S5s or S6s and are 597 size not the more common 590 26 x 1 3/8 tire sold at Walmart. Roger
