    Tar off tires?

On vacation from NC, back in central Illinois and boy do the roads SUCK around here. Nothing but tar and rock when it's paved at all. Anyway, borrowed my brothers bike and brought it down from Chicago. Took it out today and the tires are caked with tar. Anyway to get that off? Simple degreasers work? Got to get this fixed or he'll be angry Thanks.

If there's tar on the tires, it's probably on other places, like under the bottom bracket. Gasoline or paint thinner (mineral spirits) should take it off, but don't leave it on the tires too long. Auto supply stores also have spray-on bug and tar remover, which might be safer.

Just keep your tires on the tar, and not the other way around!
Bug/tar remover, as Oldyeller mentioned, will work, but I've used acetone or even Coleman fuel in a pinch.
