Can Sturmey Archer hub be fitted with QR skewer?

I have a Sturmey Archer 8spd rear hub, is there any way I can use a QR skewer with this? If so, how?

Solid axles have different threads than hollow ones.
You could always have the original drilled out.

hell, you don't even have to drill it out, just remove that pesky shifting stuff, cut the axle a little shorter on both sides, and ram a skewer through it...

Point being, if you want to be able to use the shifting functionality of the hub, no q/r.
