OK to put a 130mm Rear Wheel in a 135mm Drop Out?

I am doing it right now with no problems. I just wonder how safe this is. The dropouts are being squeezed onto the 130mm rear wheel. My question is this: Is the amount of outward pressure on the Quick Release skewer enought to jepordize them popped out and off? Right now they don't seem like there is too much pressure. But I have heard of serious catestrophic failure when wheels fall off at high rates of speed. Thoughts?

Depends on the frame material. Steel will flex with out issue, this is only 2.5 mm on either side. Alu is a different story, I wouldn't do it with a Alu frame. Go to your LBS and get axle spacers and use those. It might cost you $2.

Put a 2 mm spacer under each locknut. This won't change the wheel dish and shouldn't upset your chainline enough to have any effect but it will make the wheel fit the frame properly. One mm spacing error doesn't matter but 5mm does.

BTW, this will reduce your axle protrusion from 5.5 to 3.5 mm outboard of each locknut but that is plenty.

Just add two washers from the hardware store.
No worries.
