Shimano XTR Rear Derailleur Compatability
I'm riding older (okay, just plain old) circa 1996 (maybe 1997) Shimano XTR, and the rear derailleur (RD-M950) could use some work. I've stripped out a couple of the jockey bolts, the jockey pulleys could stand to be replced, the body is beat up, but still shifts pretty well.
I'm curious as to what the collective conscience of BF would do. My first question is if I should replace it, and if so, is the XTR RD-M952 a drop in replacement?
I do know that my derailleur is non-rapid rise, and after research I gather that the M952 is the only XTR derailleur that is not a rapid rise rear.
-OR-
Just rebuild my existing derailleur with new bolts (looking at some Ti bolts from hyperbolts.com), new jockey pulleys, maybe a new spring, and give it a good cleaning, and be on my merry way?
In either case, I'd like to know if the M952 stuff is drop in replacement for the M950 rear derailleur.
Thanks!
