Help with chain skip

Help with chain skip
I'm having issues with my setup... basically 9 speed ultegra cranks(bought used but rings look almost new) ultegra deraileur, brand new Dura Ace 9 speed chain and a brand new 12-27 Dura Ace cassette...
ok I was riding the past two days and one instance I was barely riding, sub 10mph pace, and was turning the cranks. I stopped pedaling for a few seconds, I then start turning the cranks and not really applying force and wham, I hear this click and my crank jumps forward a short distance and starts engaging and pedaling perfectly...
Another time I got the click but hardly any movement.... then It happend once while out of the saddle cranking and it clicked and moved a short distance again..... the whole rest of the time the bike rides, shifts, etc flawlessly....
took it to my LBS and the manager looked at it, pulled the wheel and turned the cassette on the hub and checked each engament click of the freehub and said its solid and nothing "skipped". Now another mechanic looked at the chainrings and said I had too much play and the teeth were worn out and sent me to another shop to buy chainrings because they were out.
now my question is: Is it the front rings or the freehub????

A more likely possibility than either of those: you have a stiff link in your chain, which causes it to not engage the cogs or derailer pulleys fully, and thereby skips under stress.
Put the bike on the floor, with the chain on the SMALLEST COG. Turn the pedals by hand SLOWLY backwards. Watch EVERY SINGLE LINK of the chain as it goes around the cog and the derailer pulleys. If you see a link kind of "pop out" away from the cog or the pulleys, then you've found your culprit.
It's possible that your chainrings are worn, though unlikely. Does this problem happen on either chainring, or just on one? Did this problem arise after a specific isolatable change to your drivetrain?
