3 speed cable/indicator end cap
I have an old schwinn with a Sturney Archer 3 speed hub. There is an end cap of sorts that holds the cable into the adjusting barrel of the indicator. The cap that was on this bike was beyond use and had to be cut off. Does anyone know what could be used as a substitute for this cap? surprisingly my lbs doesnt have one

Can you tie a string to the small chain, thread it through, then tie a knot on the other end to hold it in place? I can't remember exactly what they look like but I think this will work.

^-- That's ghetto.
You can buy a new cable with adjusting lug that'll screw into your indicitar chain here: http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/sturm...her-parts.html |
Don't be so uptight. ;)
If it works, then it works until the OP gets the replacement. Unless the OP is uptight, then, nvm what I just said. :D |
There are people with good knowledge of three speeds in the Classic & Vintage forum.
I am interested as well, since I will be doing some mods to my recently purchased 1956 Schwinn Corvette which may require moving to a longer shifter cable. |

The $3 part you need is called an "anchorage' in Sturmey-speak. We've got 'em: http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/sturm...her-parts.html Sheldon "Epicyclic" Brown Code:
