ti spokes
Whats the deal with TI spokes? I read alot of different things about them, that they require off set rear rims and high tension ect. I was just wondering if anybody had any input as I am thinking about ti spokes for my new wheel build.

lightweight + stiff I suppose, but thats not worth it to me if the wont last that is why I ask questions. what are some better lightweight/stiff options? Its going to be 32 f/r if that makes a difference.

there are two solutions, one which is fairly cheap, one thats not. wheelsmith xl 14 spokes are light, almost as light as ti spokes, cost 60 bucks for a bag of 50, and are strong as crap, made for tandems. they are the most uniformly made spoke out there, better than dt in terms of uniform length, and also made to tighter tolerances at the j bend. the pricier, stronger and even lighter solution: sapim c xray spokes. they are semi bladed, 99 percent as light as ti, stronger, but arnt made to as exacting standards as wheelsmith. the good news is you can buy them individually. anyway you cut it, use brass nipples made by dt, they make the best. (machined edges, better spoke wrench fit, so higher tension can be attained)

because, A if you dont prep the alloy right, it will bond to the rim and or spokes, and B alloy nipples can shear off if your spoke calc is off, ie too short, and 3 brass holds its edge better after repeated truing. just ditch your normal heavy rim tape and get rox rim tape and the weight savings equals out, roughly.
