Broken SRAM grip shift?

I was adjusting my front derailer, and I managed to rotate the left side grip shift past 1, and it seems I may have snapped whatever stop is in place to keep the shifter from indexing past the 1. Now it just free spins from a bit before the 1 to about 1" past it.

I'm trying to get this bike fixed up so I can sell it, so if I can get some advice on what the problem might be that would be great. I would prefer not to buy another if I can help it, obviously.

The grip shift is a cheap SRAM 3.0.

TIA

Does it still index for "2" and "3"? It sounds like something inside the shifter broke. I'll bet you need to get a new one.

I'm not familiar with SRAM 3.0 but I have broken SRAM MRX and MRX Comp rear shifters. On the MRX, the plastic "backstop" broke and the spring clip dislodged and I had no indexing and nothing preventing the shifter going all they way to the smallest cog. I tried superglue but it was just not strong enough. So I bought an MRX Comp shifter. That broke almost immediately. The MRX Comp has a plastic ring that holds the spring clip and this plastic ring broke. Indexing still 'worked' but the broken plastic ring would deform from pressure and there was a lot of play and indexing was very light ("spontaneous" shifts when hitting bumps). I was able to reinforce the plastic ring so it wouldn't deform so much by wrapping thread around it about 20 times and it works OK now.

Yes, it will still inded for 2 & 3. It might even inded to 1, with a good bit of adjustment, but it would still free spin. I would not worry about it if I was going to ride it myself, but I can't sell it that way, is my problem.

Probably just need to pry open the wallet again and buy a new grip shift and be done with it I guess.

Thank you very much, BTW. I am thinking that maybe SRAM grip shifts break pretty easily, is that correct?
