Brake cables
I want to buy in bulk--suggestions on where?
Also, any particular kind perform remarkably better than others? What about housing--what are the differences in housing? I noticed Harris Cyclery sells housing but not cables in bulk. I know that the cables come with the knobs on them, but I still thought I could buy it more than one package at a time.
I'm just looking for stuff that'll last, maybe I can buy in different colors, nothing fancy, all for older road bikes and single speed conversions.
Also, I bought some housing ends, but they don't fit into the adjusters--are there any sold that are the smaller diameter, like the ones that come with housing sets? Could I use something else instead (I was thinking of a little strip of lead tape from my tennis racquet or something like that.) The housing always seems to rip right where it meets the adjuster stop.
Thanks.

the housing ferrules, if they dont fit, arnt nessesary. some brake levers, shifters ect dont require them.
so dont worry on that front. you can get bulk cable from the same place your local bike shop does, quality or j and b or hawley, i would recommend going to a shop and asking for a file box of cables. you'll be blown away buy the price. the other idea would be to buy in 10s, thats the price that shops get a break at and will maybe pass that break on to you. screw the internet, give the money to someone who needs it.

You can get single Shimano brake cable for $1.50, or a box of 100 for $93.
