recessed mount brake ?

my girlfriend is trying to fit a shimano tiagra front brake lever onto a soma rush fork.

the fork is drilled for a recessed mount style brake caliper and for some reason the fork seems too small when threading the entire mount. in other words it wont grasp onto the front or rear of the fork.

any idears? i figure we could put a couple of washers in there if need be, but we/me can't figure out any reason why it wouldn't fit. it just kind of rattles there. small fork? help usssssssss

If I'm understanding your question right, it sounds like the cylinder-shaped nut is too long for the fork. They make different lengths, go to your LBS and ask if they will sell you a shorter nut that will tighten up correctly-

You can use a shaped washer in front of the fork crown and a hald-curved one in back of the rear brake bridge to make the bolts reach longer. Any LBS will have them. On some bikes tthe front washer is essential to keep the rear of the brake pads from touching the fork legs.

Yup. I recently bought a new 105 front brake caliper for my fixed gear. It came with 4 different length hex nuts. I'd offer you one of my spares, but I used the shortest one and it sounds to me like that's the one you need.
