Nexus roller brake question

Hi all

I recently acquired a 7-speed Shimano Nexus hub with the roller brake attached. Can this brake be used with caliper-style brake levers, or do I have to spring for a genuine Shimano component?

Rollerbrakes are intended for use with any standard brake lever. Use whatever you want, except for v-brake levers.
