Shimano HF-05 tandem hub freehub body question
Hello friends-
I am in the process of trying to get my new wheel to work on a bike with 130mm dropout spacing. Unfortunately, the freehub body on the HF05 is not long enough to accommodate my 9 speed cluster.
Can I just buy a new freehub body for this hub?
Should I hold off on redishing this wheel until I can get this freehub body and cluster installed?
Can I just run it as an 8 speed (by removing my smallest rear cog)? Will my rear derailleur need adjustment.
My apologies if this is a very basic question. I appreciate your help.

Since the 9 speed won't fit, it means it's for a 7 speed, since 8, 9 & 10 use the same body.
8 of 9 on 7 will work. You will need 9 speed shifters (if indexed) and chain.

I can't say for sure.
The good news is that a 9-speed Shimano tandem freehub body does exist. The QBP part number is FW8968.
The bad news has to do with your bike's rear triangle spacing. That Shimano tandem rear hub is designed to fit 145mm spacing. I don't know if you can rework it to fit a 130mm frame without having to dish it too much.
