Derailleur rubbing against cassette

Basically my derailleur went into the spokes and broke the derailleur hanger. Other than the hanger, everything looked OK. I replaced the hanger but I can't figure out why the derailleur is rubbing. It does not look damaged.

What would you suggest me to do? Replace derailleur? Take it to my local bike shop?

Bare in mind I am absolutely clueless so it could be something obvious. I already tried messing around with b screw and cable tension. Nothing seemed to pull it back so it doesn't rub.

It's most likely the derailleur, given that the hanger is now straight and the proper length, but I would take it to a shop for evaluation

Did you check the hanger alignment? An event that breaks the hanger may have bent the dropout as well.

Had a friend who managed to tear up the rear of his bike on a bad shift. The hanger (Steel) was bent so badly I had to bend it back and retap the threads on the drop-out. The Der. had to be replaced even though it looked ok, we could not adjust it to shift properly.

Yeah adjusted the limit screws and yeah the B screw seems to move everything as it should.

Two likely options: your derailleur's bent, or your frame's bent. A shop would be your best bet.

Is the derailleur attached in the correct postion? Make sure it is catching on the hanger properly so it doesn't rotate up into the cassette. But taking it to a shop may stil be a good idea. They can check it out and any simple adjustments shouldn't cost much (if anything). They may identify other issues, too.

Yeah the hanger is pretty straight forward, it fits in a slot so cant be moved around. I'll be taking the bike to a shop tomorrow :/ I hope it's something they can fix

So I took it to the shop and... They told me that there's a part broken off and it can't be bought separately. A new derailleur has been ordered. But, is there not a temporary fix I could use? I need the bike for a race :-(

It is part B of this picture, the metal tip that stops it from going into cassette to be exact

If the tab is broken off you need a substitute in the same position. Ideal would be to drill and tap a hole in a position that would allow a machine screw to serve as the stop - see altered photo. Might be a challenge to get enough strength, as the base is not very thick, and would need a fine thread.
