specialized crossroads

I was given a womenís specialized crossroads with steel frame today. No idea what year, has Shimano Altus gear, 700-38c tires that are rotten. Is it worth anything.

Has it got a Shimano BioPace crank? If it does you can put that crank and matching BB on Ebay and make some serious money just for that. Loaded Touring bikers go nuts over them, especially if it's a 48/38/28 with 175mm crank arms.

Seriously? That's what I'm running on my city beater... and just because I didn't consider it good enough for anything else...

The 28 is round though... 'cause I broke it way back in the day.

Only in the USA are bikes denoted as Men's and Women's, which I consider seriously poor marketing. Everywhere else this is a bicycle with a step through frame. It's valued by people who are unable to sling their leg over a seat or have large loads on the rear rack and simply cant get a leg over the bike. What you have here is a very nice loaded touring bike! Put new rubber on it. Get a complete lube job done if you can't or don’t want to do it yourself. Hang front and rear racks. Trekking bars would be a good addition. Go on nice long tours on this bicycle.

No, we have the men's/women's marketing concepts here as well.

Thanks for the replys, been away since friday. My brother, former bike shop owner sold me 2 Michelin Altika's for $20, can't eat tires. He told me they are not a fast moving tire these days.

I just refurbished one that's the twin to yours. Nice little bike, I sold it for 100.00.

According to the component codes, it dated to early 90s.
