velocity deep-v tires

hi,

i'm new here and have a question. i just purchased a set of 700c velocity deep-v's on ebay with formula track hubs. i was wondering what a good tire would be for city riding in sf. i'm looking for light and fast but still tough enough to take the scattered broken glass and the like. size too.

i'd appreciate the help.

thanks.

Light and fast are at one end of the bike tire range and puncture resistant is on the other.

Everybody has their favorite tires that fit somewhere in between. My current choice would be Continental Gatorskins. Get the 23mm folding bead if you want to save a little weight.

I'll second the gatorskins. I just had a pair of Deep-V rims built up and put gatorskins on them (25mm). They look neat

Track hubs eh?

Well, since you're going to be skidding everywhere, just get some cheap Serfas FPS in 25mm.
Good flat resistance, dual compound for cornering, and you won't be out too much money to replace the back one after going down those hills.

Cheap, light, durable

Pick two.

23 or 25? will both fit and what is the difference? i'm looking for the best recommended balance between price, durability and weight. the price on the gatorskins i have seen is reasonable ($28 each). do they last a long time?

You'll want 48mm valve stems.
