center pull 2 v brake swap?
I have a gary fisher mountain bike with center pull brakes. I got a set of v brakes off a GT with the levers, and I am having trouble getting them to work, as the where the rear cable comes out on my bike, it angles a very odd way and wont work with the v brakes. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
Death fork? Naaaah!!
A picture may not be worth a thousand words, but would be very helpful here.
You probably need a clamp-on cable stop. One brand name is Problem Solvers. They come in 4 different tubeing sizes so you need to measure your top tube to be sure of getting the right one. Regular retail is going to be around $25.00
Option #2, run cable housing from the lever to the noodle.
me have long head tube
I assume you mean cantilever brakes. Centerpull brakes were generally used on road bikes from the 1970's and early '80's.
Another issue that's not been mentioned in this thread is that V-brakes require about twice as much cable-pull per distance of brake pad travel, as other brakes (cantilever, centerpull, sidepull, etc., are all similar in this respect). You need to get V-brake-specific brake levers that pull more cable.
