    heres a question for ya:

how to put on front fenders when the fork is running v-brakes but the arch is made for canti's? can't put the fender on because the cableholder for canti's on the arch is in the way...

Arch is in the way.....your guess is as good as mine. Try putting the fender on upside down.

Cut a hole in the fender for the cable hanger to stick through. I assume you are talking about a THE style fender that mounts to a single bolt through a wedge in the bottom of the steerer tube.

You are using v-brakes? I have those on a touring bike and there still is plenty of place between the tire, fender and brake cable. So I assume you have a bike with fairly large tires?

    Two solutions:

    1. Use zip-ties?
It's shown here http://www.mindspring.com/~d.g1/ziptie.htm and could be a solution.

    2. Replace the front brake with a Cantilever brake.

What type of fork (sus, plain steel)?
What type of fender, MTB clip-on style, or touring style, with stays to fender eyelets .
Is there a hole horizontally through the fork arch to attach a bolt ?
What do you mean by the "cable holder". I have fenders with my cantis on a touring bike, and there is nothing in the way. Can you find a picture to show us your problem?

this is for a mountain bike. it's a rockshox mag fork, with canti cable holder on the arch. i am currently running v-brakes. the fenders i see on the market are the ones that attach to the bottom of the steerer, going over the brake in the front. i haven't looked closely at the specific dimensions but from the looks of it, it doesn't seem it will fit over the arch. anyway, the idea about cutting the hole through the fender might be feasible. and actually i just might go back to using canti brakes on this bike. who knows, since it's been so sunny these days i think i might be able to get away with not using fenders after all! thanks for the insightful responses!
    i won't deny it i'm a straight ridah
