Coaster Brake S-A Model SC Hub Picture(help)

Found this sturmey Archer Model SC in the trash with a AW and another 3 speed wheel, no name.
Anyway upon dissassembly I found the brake Band to be cracked as shown.

Anybody have a clue where to get one of these. Searches have come up empty.
Do you think it will still work?
It seems to be a hard carbide insert in the Brass Brake Band and it cracked lengthwise 180 degreess apart. (both sides)

Blender,
As far as I know you are SOL on getting parts from any of the normal sources. Best bet is to watch ebay or haunt cycle meets for a replacement and save the one you have for spares. I currently don't have any spare SC hubs. The crack is probably why you found it in the trash...I never throw out any S-A parts unless they are totally destroyed.

Thanks for the advice.
The other Two wheels in the trash , an AW hub and Shimano F - 3 speed turned out to be in great shape after a good cleaning and inspection. I'll find a use for those and hang on to the SC.
I have a feelling this may be a weak point in the SC Hub and E-bay and the like could have the same hidden flaw.

Are you sure those two "cracks" are not as designed? It's been awhile since I worked on SA 3 speed coasters and they were older TCW models, but I seem to recall that is how they expand the external brake band. My memory is almost as fuzzy on this item as the OP photo.

Well the cracks are not perfectly straight although they are 180 apart and there is slight chipping on the ends.
It is possible that this expansion joint was designed to crack after Riding. They may have just scored the OD of the sleeve to weaken it in order to press the assembly together.
The Hub showed very little wear and cleaned up great. I reasssembled it and it is smooth. The original problem with the wheel was overtightened bearings.

After thinking about it, I dont think these cracks will be a problem because of the 180 degree location and the support around the Band. If it does fail it would be on hard braking and not be catastophic failure. I'll use a front brake also.

This guy has a shed full of old vintage bikes, ballon tire stuff and picks up a lot of stuff. He regularly tosses old Schwinn frames, wheels etc. Mostly strippped down for E-bayable parts like headbadges and such.
He tosses some good stuff once in a while.
