Sheldon update in General Cycling Discussion

I don't usually go to that forum, so I thought maybe many of you would miss this thread.

Sheldon Brown's Health

Sheldon's journal here--scroll down for most recent update:

October 25, 2006

"Saw the new neurologist this morning, the news isn't good. His opinion is that my problem is MS, of the 'primary-progressive' variety, and that the best I can hope for from treatment is to slow the decline, but that a reversal is not likely in the cards."

I suspected that he had MS when I read that journal last month. A very good friend of mine had the same symptoms and it turned out to be MS. She was probably the nicest person I've ever known.

My thoughts and sympathy for Sheldon. My sister had MS. Fortunately for us MS does not impact the brain, so I am hoping that Sheldon can gain satisfaction from sharing his knowledge with other cycling enthusiasts. I also hope that he is able to maintain his marvelous sense of humour. To Sheldon "Inspiration" Brown.

Sheldon, My thoughts and prayers are with you. My beautiful wife has MS. She's been diagnosed with the disease for 13 years. The treatments today are much better than those of 13 years ago. Take heart that Beta-seron, Avonex and other drugs truly do slow down the progression of the disease considerably. I hope your doctors are able to arrest the progression as much as possible.
