Veloce vs. Centaur shifters ??

Veloce vs. Centaur shifters ??
Have found new 9spd Ergos at on-line retailers. Centaurs are $5.00 more than Veloce. Is there any real functional difference between the two that would warrent 5 bucks more? Currently I have Veloce's on one bike (with J-Tek) and I'm very happy. Any real differences between the two models??

The only difference I am aware of (other than $5 and a different name) is that there is a cutout on the shifter under the brake lever. This is supposed to help you find the sweet spot when shifting, and saves about 3g. At 3g/5$, that's by no means the most expensive way to save weight on a bike

Honestly, I've used both and can't tell the difference. I am using a set of Daytona 10 speed and they are really no different than Veloce. BUT, if you can get Centaur for only $5 more, do it. When you go to sell the brifters used in the future, the Centaur version will fetch way more than $5 over Veloce. There are lots of snobs out there willing to pay more for the same thing. Good luck.

Mmmmmm... up-branding. As far as I know Centaur and Veloce brifters have the same core, just different finish.
