Does anyone make +44mm tall 1"-1 1/8th stem shims?

It sucks that I have to start off by defending my post, but I read 15 pages of related threads, but nothing really all that relative to my situation.

Hey all I have an issue with my stem, well actually more so with the stem adapter. I have 1 1/8th threadless stem on a 1" steertube. I want to keep my overall stack height at the same point as it was when I had the 1" threadless stem on it. The problem with this is that when I put the shim, stem and spacers beneath the stem on, the shim does'nt quite go far enough into the stem to tighten it correctly without putting unwanted stress on the top bolt area. So basically the top of the shim falls short of (what I feel comfortable with) the top of the clamp area of the stem.

I've searched the internet for taller shims, but could'nt find anything. I am also familiar with the empty can technique, but that seems like a lot of layers of aluminum can.

So I guess to make this simple, besides cutting a cm off my steertube do I have any other options?

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly, but are you putting your spacers overtop of the shim?

if so, dont do that. use 1'' spacers.

Yes, I'm putting spacers over the shim and under the stem. 1" spacers don't fit over the shim. Am I not supposed to put spacers over a shim?

Can't you simply stack ordinary 1" spacers? This shouldn't be a problem with using a 1-1/8" threadless stem with a shim....it's done all the time.

Yeah, nevermind me, I put on the 1 inchers and then the shim on top of those.

I've never decided to go the shim route before, so, ya' know, trial and error.

Sorry, the caffeine has'nt kicked in yet.
