Shimano single pivot brake arm bearings
Anyone know which way the pivot bearings (1987 single-pivot road brakes) between the brake arms face? These teeny teeny bearings sit in a plastic holder with a metal snap-on cover. Do the bearings and cover face the front of the brake and the plastic holder toward the back? Does it matter? I took the brake apart thinking there was just a washer between the brake arms; these bearings fell onto the bench, but I didn't see the orientation. I love working on spring loaded parts!

Making a kilometer blurry
I'm not familiar with that brake, but I'm inclined to say that if both adjacent surfaces are flat, then it doesn't matter. If they're not, see if the bushing will mate better to one side than the other. If you can't tell, then it won't make a difference.
I took a quick look here and didn't see anything, but maybe you will: https://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=22
Good luck.

In the 1987 105 brakes (I've got two sets), the metal snap-on washer faces toward the frame and the black plastic washer with the tiny holes (through which you can see the balls but they can't get out - they can only come out on the side that's covered by the plastic washer) faces outward.
That said, I also would say that it probably doesn't matter.
