Exchanging brake pads
 

Simply: is it a bad idea to put say.... V-brake pads on canti calipers? I mean, if the pads clear the frame and connect with the rim properly is there any mechanical disadvantage to mixing and matching brake pads and calipers?

David Gordon Wilson (Bicycling Science) has nothing on the subject nor does Zinn as far as I can tell.

I do stuff like that all the time; sometimes it works well and sometimes it doesn't. The good news is it's easy to test and easy to reverse if you don't like the results.
