Campy "Quick Shift"

I'm getting ready to upgrade from my old Campy 8-speed (pre-1997) to Campy 10 speed. I can get 2006 Centaur shifters and derailleur at a reasonable price but for a few dollars more I can get 2007 Centaur components with something called "Quick Shift". I searched around but couldn't get a definitive answer. Can someone explain what this is? Will I still be able to use Shimano cassettes with a Jtek Shiftmate? Thanks.

According to the Campy web site, the QS left hand Ergo shifter will have an easier actuation force than current levers and the front derailleur will be reworked to go along with the reduced effort.

BTW, all of the groups below Chorus will also have right side (rear) shifters with the "Escape" mechanism which means you won't be able to do multiple upshifts (from larger to smaller cogs) in one mouse-ear push the way current shifters will. You will be limited to a one cog change per push the way Shimano has always been. Chorus and Record will retain the multiple upshift ability and, of course, multiple downshifts with one sweep of the inner lever will be retained by all groups.

You most likely don't need a new derailer. However, your 8-speed hub won't accept a 10 speed cassette...you'll need a new rear wheel.
