    carbon bar + bar end = ?

Ok, so this isn't as ridiculous as you are probably thinking it is. So I just bought a pair of carbon ergo fancy schmancy bars today in a fit of impulse buying and I'm going to be putting them on my cross bike. So on my cross bike I run a shimano bar end for my front shifting and I was wondering since it has that whole internal wedge thing in it, is that going to bust my carbon bar like a bullet through an apple when I tighten that thing in there? It won't be the end of the world if it's not going to fly because I have my left STI shifter that I never got around to putting on anyways.

I'm waiting for a real reply, because i'm pretty curious about it.

If you have to tighten it hard I could see the problem, but if they just have to be snug it should be fine, carbon can be pretty tough stuff. But then thats my un-eduacated opinion on it.

Bar end levers shouldn't be super tight anyway so it is unlikely to be a problem but we don't know which fancy carbon bar you are using...

There's no way it'll break the handlebar. Just be reasonable with the torque.

    Here's the bar:

I do have a bit of unreasonable fear about carbon, but I think the general mantra for it is 'reasonable torque.'

Those bars are hanging up at my LBS, they weigh nothing!!
