Shimano cassette lockring
I'm in the process of upgrading: replacing my Sachs 8-speed freewheel and Ergo shifters with a Shimano 9 speed and new Campy shifters. I ordered and received a Mavic Open Pro w/Ultegra hub but I don't see the cassette lockring anywhere. Since I'm new to this Shimano stuff should the cassette lockring have come with the hub or will it come with the new cassette when I order it? Or, do I have to order it separately when I order the cassette? Thanks.

It will come with the cassette. Smallest five (or is it 4?) cogs of the cassette, their spacers and the lockring will come separate from the rest of the cassette. You will put it on the hub using cassette lockring tool (nashbar sells one for very cheap)
Edit: Why are you getting new campy shifters to go with shimano cassette?

I like the Ergo shifters so I'm sticking with them but a Mavic Open Pro w/Ultegra and cassette is about half the price of Campagnolo. According to all I have read in this forum the 2 are compatible with a Jtek shiftmate.

I believe Campy is the only maker that includes the lockring with the hub, not the cassette. Even they make an exception for cassettes that start with an 11T cog which do come with the lockring.
