    Carbon fork compressor

    Hi Guys,

New to your forum and new to bicycle mechanics. I have a question regarding removal of the compression device from a carbon fork. I've recently purchased an Easton EC90 Aero carbon fork and it came with the compressor installed. There doesn't seem to be any way to release the thing to get it out. The Easton fork instructions mention using an 8mm wrench to compress/decompress the wedge but on mine there is only a female threaded connection for the top cap to screw into. Is it possible the compressor was jammed in there upside down?

    Thanks

Post pics for better answers. It may be in upside down. Can you access it from the bottom side of the steerer? Can you fish it out with a spoke?

I think I've found a solution using the Bikeforum search function (duh). If it doesn't work I'll try and post pics. Thanks for your reply though.

mine uses a spring loaded type compression plug as in this pdf., is yours different?
if so, it could be an expander type plug.
on some it is hard to tell, but there is a 6 or 8mm hex down there even if it doesn't look like it. try it.
