Getting clamp marks of a ti seatpost
I was wondering if any of you know how to get markings from the the seat cluster off of a campy ti seatpost. It's really shiny except for where it inserted in my old frame and I switched it to a new bike with more of the post showing and it looks nasty. Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

Try the pink stuff... it works awesome.
And for next time, put a rag inside the clamp. It eliminates that problem. |
You might try re-finishing the whole post. Start hand rubbing with 220 grit wet&dry sandpaper for deep scratches, followed by 400, 600, 800 in sequence; or start with whichever grit paper that will get the marks off and go on to 800 grit which is fine enough for polishing. Polishing will take a few minutes with a buffing machine, or lots of work with a cloth and metal polish by hand.
Spinning the post slowly in a drill or lathe and sanding/polishing by hand may work ok, but I would be careful not to remove too much metal and change the diameter more than necessary. |
Thanks for the help. What's "the pink stuff"?

And what do you do with the rag?

I think the 'pink stuff' referred to in this context is Maas metal polish.
