Shimano rear der identification.

Shimano bolt on rear derailer, marked RD-AL11 on the back of the paralellogram, looks to be decent alloy & steel construction. Any ideas what it is and where it sits in the food chain?

No idea. Search turned up not much as you probably already know.

But if I had to guess, it could be great news or bad .

One potentials leads is theRD-M511 Deore series.

Another lead is the Tourney. It's part number is RD-TY18. Maybe this one falls below that?

It would be great if it were an older high quality part.

Good luck finding what it is.

"alloy and steel derailleurs (about 105 quality): long cage RD AL11 rear, triple cage front, circa 1980"

(from Google ) - https://search.bikelist.org/getmsg.as...10201.0605.eml

Otherwise I have no idea.
