Fitting brake to new carbon fork

Hey everyone,

I just got a new Reynolds Ousa Pro carbon fiber fork. My Ultegra (BR-6500) brake mounting bolt is too short, it measures 14mm w/o the washer. I went to my LBS and got the longest sleeve nut they had (27mm) and it is still too short. The width of the fork is 43mm and is only slightly countersunk on the front side +/- 1 or 2mm. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Typically the fix is a longer sleeve nut. Try calling around to other LBSs to see if they carry ones longer than 27mm, or, as a last resort, contact the folks at Reynolds.

Actually, if I recall, my Pro Ouza fork included a longer brake bolt nut......but may not have been long enough for your caliper bolt.

Problem Solvers makes one that's 30mm - about 1.25" - that I needed to fit a Cane Creek SCR-5 caliper onto my Fondriest Mizuno carbon fork. Nearly any bike shop should have one in their service area. Go on in and explain what you need and you should find help.

have fun,
aaron

typically I have seen most ouzo pro forks come with the longer sleeve nut. And the new sets of Ultegra brakes have been coming with 3 different sized sleve nuts for the front brakes.
