Can I use a 9mm axel on a 3/8 BMX fork

I have a road hub (shimano parallax). I would like to mount it on a 20" rim and use it on a commuting bike I have. The fork is 3/8". Is there a 9mm -> 3/8 shim or something I can use? Is there any problem with a 9mm axel in a 3/8 fork?

Difference in size is about 0.02", not easy to shim. Strip cut off a soft drink or beer can should about
do it, probably not really necessary though.
