Dura Ace Shifters STI 9 speed - Do they click?

Does anyone know if the front shifter supposed to click when you shift up to the big ring? They only click when I shift down. Also, I can move the front by small increments with the shifter, like a racheting effect. I'm into MTB instead and this would be a sign of a sticky paw inside the shifters from shimano's lube. thanks in advance for any help!

My 9-speed D-A shifters don't click, which is fine with me. In fact I can hit all 9 cassette cogs with no chainrub and no trimming. And it's a 56cm Trek with fairly short chainstays.

The small increment adjustment you notice is the deluxe trim feature on the Dura Ace. Mine has this, I was surprised at how versatile it was. This is an added feature, not a flaw. You're right about upshifts in front - they don't click. Downshifts definitely do. Both things you are describing are the exact same things I experienced with my nine speed triple DA set up.
