Shimano STI Cable Replacement ???'s

Hiya. Can someone tell me how to replace the shift and brake cables on 5500 series Shimano 105 shifters? Does the shift/brake assembly need to be disassembled? Maybe somebody knows a website that even has pictures for the bicycle repair novice like myself? Thanks for any help you can give.

NEVER DISASSEMBLE A SHIMANO STI BRIFTER!

Check www.parktool.com as they have a good repair section.

all you have to do is loosen the brake cable nut on the brake itself. then you can squeeze the lever all the way in and have access to the shift cable.

Shifter cable is envisioned the same way. Downshift the der so that the der is on the smallest rear cog or smallest fr chainwheel and when you fully depress the brake lever you will see the end of the
shifter cable on the drum it winds up on. Push the cable and the end will come out for easy removal.
