Hi
I just got a new Felt f4c (all Carbon) road bike. I have placed in my repair kit (which I carry on rides) the following:
Topeaka Alien II
Park tool emergency tire boot
second wind C02 backup handpump
Bicycle Tube Repair Kit
plastic ties
Crank Brothers telescoping tire lever
is that over kill, good enough or am I missing any thing? I usually ride 20 to 40 miles in one trip.

You're probably going to get more advice than you want. I'm frequently truely impressed by the amount of stuff that some guys report carrying with them on every single ride. I'm a believer in maintaining a light tool pack and a light heart.

For road rides I generally just carry enough stuff to fix one flat tire. Actually, on my fixed gear I use puncture resistant Armadillo tires and carry no tools at all. I add a Park Tool mini tool kit for mountain rides and I think that I've got one in my tandem bag too. Incidentally, I'm typing this from home so I've obviously always found a way to get back.

You'll never be able to carry enough stuff to handle every possible thing that life might throw at you. Once you start allowing yourself to worry about all of "what if's" your tool pack gets progressively heavier and heavier. The burden of worry on your shoulders gets even heavier and keeps you from enjoying the ride.

You probably want to carry a spare tube.

I would carry a spare tube, as well. It is easier to patch a tube in the comfort of my living room after I get home. That one becomes my spare for next time. Keep the patch kit in your bag for that rare terrible ride where you flat twice.

Things you don't like to use - alcohol wipes, large bandage, copy of your medical insurance.
+1 on the tube. patch at home.

Tissue can be used to find the little piece of unseen glass stuck in the tire, and wiping your hands when finished. A bungee chord is usefule for hanging your bike up, while you have the wheel removed. Cell, phone, money for phone call, or bus ride home.
