8 speed triple crankset

My cousin just bought a used road bicycle and does not like the gearing of the triple crankset he's using. He would like to replace it with something more aggressive. I'm not sure if he wants a double or triple.

1) Can he use a 9spd crankset?
2) Will he need to change the BB?
3) If he goes with a double crankset, will he need a new set of shifters and RD?

The specs of his bike can be found here: https://www99.epinions.com/bike-Bicyc...ay_~full_specs

Those are roughly his specs, same level of components, however the crankset on that page has a 50t or lower for a large gear.

1) Yes.
2) Maybe, depends on what cranks he chooses. See: https://sheldonbrown.com/bbsize
3) No.

Your cousin would probably benefit more from a more aggressive cadence.

I'm doubting it. His top gear is a 44t. Thanks for the answer Mr. Brown!
