Rubbing front brake pad

Rubbing front brake pad
On my bike i have just normal bike brakes with pads on the front.
If you were sitting on the bike, it would be the right hand side brake pad.
When i ride it continually rubs and in the rain squeaks aswell.
i have tried just pushing it so it has an equal amount of distance away from the rim on each side.
But when i use the front brake it just stays against the rim and the left pad goes way out.
What do you think is up and please can you suggest how i should fix it?

Wow. So many questions need to be answered before your question can be answered. Cantilever or V-brake or Road brake? Or if you don't know the answer to the last question, do your brakes have a cross cable that is pulled from the center to activate the brakes, or does it come in from the side?
First step, make sure your wheel is in straight. Loosen it, and while putting a little weight on the handlebars to help seat the axle in the fork, tighten it back up. Is it better?
Regardless of what type they are, most brakes have an adjustment screw that adjusts spring tension. Look for a phillips head (star) screw or allen head screw or possibly even wrench flats. If there is one on the right brake, try screwing it in.
If you could post a pic, it might help us help you.
There can be other issues that are causing this but the ones mentioned above *might* be all that is needed to get you going. Chances are your pads are not set-up properly as well, especially if you are getting squeaks.

This is a common problem on low price side-pull brakes. The spring that pushes the pads out from the rim isnt centred. You can centre it effectively by placing screw driver blade on top of the spring close to the bolt on the side that moves out from the rim. Then tap on the screw driver with a hammer to move the spring. It might take several attempts to get it right.

Another way to centre the caliper is to unhook the spring on the side that is rubbing and pull it outward so it has more tension.
