Screaming Shorty 4s: part 2
A little while ago I posted a thread asking for advice about the shrieking front brake on my Avid Shorty 4 cantilevers. The solution I went with was to buy a set of the Dual compound Kool-Stops.
So, the two follow up solutions I'm pondering are as follows, and I'd like to hear some opinions.
1) The arms don't "seat" fully against the base of the posts. There's almost 1mm of gap there. In other words, the posts are just a hair longer than the mount hole on the arm is deep. If I shim that gap with a washer of some kind, would that make the assembly rigid enough to stop the high frequency vibration?
2) Get a different cantilever. Any ideas? Looking at giving the Shimano R550 cantilever a try.
Good night...and good luck
