Good way to lube a freehub mechanism?
Hey all,
Turning my crank backwards starts my wheel to rotating. The freehub mechanism is attached to a Bontrager hub (i'm not sure of it's exact pedigree-- it's laced to Bontrager Select hoops). Anyone have any DIY tips for lubing the freehub mechanism? Thanks for your help. |
If you lay the wheel on your lap with the gear side up, you should see a small gap between the part of the freehub that rotates with the wheel and the part that doesn't. Drip a light oil on the gap and let it seep in. It'll take a while so be patient and spin the hub periodically to distribute the oil until it starts running smoothly again.
