new fork question

I have a question hopefully someone can help me with... I bought a rock shox recon fork off ebay and the tube was already cut. It stops about quarter inch short of the top of the handlebar stem. Just below the top bolt. Will this be ok?? I dont do anything extreme, maybe 3 foot drops at the most. And i also need to put air in it and have no idea how. Thanks for any advice.

uscrew the top of one of the struts. ones is probably the rebound and the other the valve cover.

as far as the steer tube...you preferabably want it to go at least to to the top bolt...do you have spacers? take some out if you can

Grim. As set up now, I'd say that's a no go.

I wouldn't ride that set-up on the road, never mind off-road while planning on 3-foot drops. Unless the steerer tube is replaceable, you are hosed.

I think you just got a lesson in the risks of buying on e-bay if you don't know EXACTLY what to look for or what questions to ask.
