How to install Garmin Edge 305 with another Cyclometer

I currently have the TREK INCITE 11i (wired cyclometer with rear wheel mount) and now want to attach/install my new Garmin Edge 305 with HR and Cadence. Can I have both on the bike and still have all the features of both?

The Trek has cadence as does the Garmin. Do I have to remove the Trek magnets or can I have both? I haven't totally read the manuals but thought I could get a head start on gathering information.

Can someone give me instructions if I want to keep both on my bike? I basically want the Trek as a backup if I run out of battery on the Garmin. I suppose I mainly want to check speed and mileage.

Thank you in advance for any information you can share.

Seems like overkill to me, but I think you could use both. It may be possible to mount the pickup sensors so you only need to use one wheel mag. Possibly one picking up above the stay and one below the stay. If you use two mags on the wheel make sure they are spaced far enough a part so the other sensor doesn't read the wrong magnet.

I thought a lot of people kept their original computer as a backup. I absolutely don't need the cadence to continue working on the Trek but I would like to have the speed and distance as a backup.
