Ibis Bow Ti Shock (Alps 5R) advice please.

I have an Ibis Bow Ti. My Fox Alps 5R shock is dying I think. Damping is absent and oil has leaked out. I contacted Fox but they no longer provide service or parts for that shock. Do I need a new shock? If so, what will work best for general cross-country type riding? I'd like something light, durable and easy to maintain.

    Ibis Goodies
The RIPley has been reborn as the Fango, and we’re working on the resurrection and further refinement of the bikes formerly known as SilkTi and BowTi. We like to take care of our customers, so here at Castellano Designs, we’re also making every effort possible to provide technical support and many replacement parts for all the models we’ve designed in the past for Ibis. We’re building up an inventory of shock parts (SilkTi, Ripley), shocks (BowTi, Szazbo), suspension pivots (Szazbo) and replaceable derailleur hangers (Ripley, Szazbo, Alibi).

    BowTi:
We’re testing Fox’s latest AVA shock, which should be perfect for this bike. Will be stocked in the future.

I doubt it but, check with Push?

Thanks Soil_sampler! I have written an e-mail to the man (John Castellano) himself. I need to figure out what eye to eye lenth I need too.

Man, you guys are making me all Ibis-itchy. I'd always wanted to get a couple Ibis bikes (Cousin It especially), but just never pulled the trigger (wife/budget). Nice to hear you guys will back the product -- reinforces my long-time goodwill toward the bikes.

OK, no reply from Mr. Castellano yet.

Shock measures 6.5 inches eye to eye. Looks like anything 6.5 inches is 1.5 inch stroke.

Any reason I shouldn't pull the trigger on a Fox Float variant?
