tire keeps blowing out
A few days ago, I hit a pothole, I thought there was no effect at first but about fifteen seconds later, I heard an explosion sound and realized that all of the air had just left my tire very quickly. "No problem," I thought. I patched up the tire and reinflated it. I noticed that it was not a "snake bite", but a single large hole. I only had a portable pump so couldn't inflate it to full pressure but it was enough to get me home. This morning, I pumped it up to full pressure and it immediately blew out again.
I have tried patching it several more times and each time, it blows either immediately or within a few minutes and this is without ever putting it back on the bike. I have checked the rim and the tread for anything that might poke through the tube but have found nothing. I have tried reducing the pressure to which I inflate the tube. The tread is rated to 110psi and the last time I patched and reinflated the tube, I only inflated it to a pressure of 80psi.
Do you guys have any idea of what is causing this problem?
Do you know if it's always blowing out at the same spot?
How big is this "single large hole"?
From what you said, it sounds like you may have a goofed up tube, they don't cost that much, get a new one and see if that fixes it.
Probably have a small hole in your side wall. Looking for it on the inside is easier.
Good call. I have a slit in my tread almost 1cm long. I didn't notice a hole because I wasn't looking for a hole. Anyway, thanks.
